What we are building
- Scheduled, client-encrypted backup of supported local Codex history to off-device storage.
- A last-verified-backup receipt and visible failures, so a silent missed run is not called protection.
- A clean-Mac recovery drill: find a version, read or export it, and recover what the format safely permits.
- Organization-controlled recovery and device-health visibility, with governed access to employee content.
This hosted team service is not available yet. We have not certified organization key custody, clean-Mac hosted restore, retention controls, or a business service level. It is scheduled backup, not live multi-Mac sync, a whole-device backup, or a promise of zero data loss. Pricing and pilot terms are not set; there is no pre-order or charge here.
The exact gap matters
OpenAI documents local Codex history under CODEX_HOME. Its Codex security whitepaper distinguishes local CLI, IDE, and app history from persistent Codex Cloud conversations. Account-saved ChatGPT-app chats are another case. We will confirm which records your team needs to recover before recommending a pilot.
Available today: the $49 one-time Mac beta can search and back up supported local conversations into an encrypted folder you choose, and migrate selected work between Macs. It is not our hosted team service. Its current backup can miss history held only in Codex's separate database; maintain an independent backup and verify recovery before relying on it.
